A surveillance system includes the following core components:
1. Cameras: High-definition cameras capture visual information. They can vary in type (e.g., dome, bullet, PTZ) and specifications (resolution, night vision capabilities).
2. Motion Sensors - These sensors detect movement within their field of view and can trigger various actions, including incident alerts to the monitoring team, as well as cameras to start recording.
3. Recording Device & Storage: Often a Network Video Recorder (NVR) or Digital Video Recorder (DVR) where camera footage and other security data is stored. This device can range in capacity and can record continuously or based on motion detection.
4. Monitoring Software: Allows for live viewing of camera feeds, incident response, playback of recorded footage, and management of system settings. Some systems offer mobile apps for remote monitoring.
